To get started, we recommend saving documents on the C: Drive of your computer. Creating a “SMART Imports” folder on the C: drive to house all documents needing to be imported into the software will make the import process consistent and simplify it each time you do it. The folder structure will look like this:
When logged into SMART, click on the “Clinical Tx” button to open the Clinical Dashboard. Then click “Find Patient” and search for the patient you need to upload supporting documentation for. Double click on the patient row to open their Case History screen, then click on the “Case History” tab on the far left of the screen. Choose the “Stored Documents” tab, then click “Import Document” near the bottom of the window to start the import process.
This will bring up the Scanned Document window shown below. Enter a name for the document (without spaces), select a date, and add a description of what the document contains.
Clicking “Import Document” on this window will bring up a file explorer where you can choose which document will be imported.
To access the files on your local computer, click the drop down menu next to “Look In:” and select the option that says “C on COMPUTER NAME” (this will say the name of your computer).
You will then be brought to the C: drive of your local computer. Select the file you’d like to open or select the SMART Import folder created earlier, then click “Open”.
You will be brought back to the “Scanned Document” screen, where clicking “Save” will complete the process of importing the document. At this point, you will see your newly uploaded document saved on the Stored Documents tab and can view its contents by clicking on the row and then choosing “View” at the bottom of the screen.
