The state of Massachusetts cannot accept any messages during their periods of maintenance. They have communicated that these maintenance windows will occur approximately once every two months and will generally happen on Sundays.
Because some clinics are running operations on Sunday, SMART will handle these maintenance windows by temporarily pausing message traffic to the state on Friday afternoon and restarting it Monday morning. This means clinic staff can continue using the software as they normally would; and any actions resulting in a message triggered to the state will remain in an outbound queue that will be released on Monday. Staff may observe some delays in the processing of messages (displayed MADPH Messages tab on the patient’s case history).
