Overview
You now have the option to add and edit a patient’s preferred name and/or pronoun in SMART. This change ensures clinic staff are using the correct name and pronoun when working with patients.
Enable Preferred Fields
Before adding a preferred name and pronoun for a patient, you must enable these fields in SMART.
- Open the Administration module (gears icon) and select Settings.
- Under the General tab, choose the desired site from the Clinic dropdown and select Edit.
- Under the Controls 1 tab, select the Show Preferred Name & Pronoun checkbox.
- Select Save.
Add a Preferred Name and Pronoun
You can add an optional preferred name and pronoun for new and existing patients.
For new patients, these fields are displayed under the Name & Address tab on the Patient Intake screen.
For existing patients, these fields are located under the Patient ID # and Name on the Patient Demographics screen.
